Zine: Electronically distributed newsletter or magazine; widely used for all kinds of electronic journals, but initially referred to periodic compilations of security breaking techniques distributed by black hat groups
Zombie: Specialized type of backdoor or remote access program designed as the agent, or client (middle layer) component of a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) network; once installed on a computer, identifies itself to a master computer, and then waits for instructions from the master; upon receipt of instructions from master computer, zombie machines will send attack packets to a target computer. Zone: Region or area characterized by common features or attributes that should be considered in business continuity and crisis planning, e.g. a high-risk concentration of business and/or mission critical activities in an area. See also Mission Critical Activities
Zone Transfer: Occurs when a DNS server performs a complete dump of the database for a domain and sends the information from primary DNS server to secondary DNS servers
Zoo: Refers to a set of virus programs of known characteristics used to test antiviral software
