Las Vegas Courthouse Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Wounded
A gunman open fired inside the lobby of a courthouse in downtown Las Vegas at 8 a.m. P.T. today, killing a federal court security officer and wounding a U.S. Marshal.
The suspect was shot and killed by Marshals Service personnel while fleeing the scene.
"It looks like he went in there and just started unloading, we don't know," Las Vegas police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan told The Associated Press.
Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign have offices in the courthouse though both were not present at the time of the shooting. The federal building was evacuated, including jurors, federal workers and prisoners, following the shooting.
The deputy U.S. Marshal is in stable condition at a local hospital.
