Mobile Mandate Becomes First Mobile Electronic Communication Compliance Solution to Achieve Electronic Discovery Reference Model Compliance
Mobile Mandate, an emerging mobile electronic communication compliance solution, announced that they have become the first mobile electronic communication compliance solution to achieve compliance with Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) XML schema for export. The company completed testing and received notification of compliance in September allowing its mobile message compliance solution to be easily integrated with e-discovery collection solutions.
"Mobile messaging is a rapidly growing type of messaging for organizations and thus can be an important source of evidence during litigation which will require solutions that address the challenges related to mobile SMS logging and retrieval," said Tom Gelbmann, who co-founded the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, an industry consortium that sets guidelines and standards. "Mobile Mandate's achievement of compliance with the EDRM XML schema for export in the e-discovery workflow is a strong demonstration of its commitment to e-discovery and interest in addressing this emerging need."
The EDRM Project was created to address the lack of standards and guidelines in the electronic discovery market -- a problem identified in the Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery surveys as a major concern for vendors and consumers alike. The Electronic Discovery Reference Model provides a common, flexible and extensible framework for the development, selection, evaluation and use of electronic discovery products and services.
"EDRM compliance certifies our ability to seamlessly integrate Mobile Mandate's messaging identification, collection, and preservation solution with downstream e-discovery products for processing, review, and analysis," said Melissa Atzori, Executive Vice President of Product Development for Mobile Mandate. "As a result, companies can now proactively and efficiently integrate critical text messages into their existing e-discovery workflow."
Mobile Mandate is a "Software as a Service" (SaaS) solution that provides corporations with capabilities to log, archive, review, extract, and supervise electronic communication on mobile devices including text messages, pin to pin, and BlackBerry Messenger. Further, text messages can be identified, collected, preserved, and exported via EDRM-compliant XML to support the e-discovery workflow and meet mobile e-discovery requirements as defined by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP).
Industry legal and regulatory requirements now require companies to archive all mobile communications including SMS and text messages. Many companies have chosen to meet these requirements by blocking functionality and reducing the overall effectiveness of the mobile device. Mobile Mandate enables companies to deploy a solution that enforces company policy, meets industry regulations (such as SEC 17a-4, MiFID and NASD 3010 ) and retains the full functionality of their mobility investment. As a result, Mobile Mandate 2.0 enables corporations to increase the effectiveness of their mobile workforce, improve user satisfaction, and drive mobile communications for collaboration and business continuity.
