Emergency operations centers and 9-1-1 centers need to be prepared for any situation, from active shooter incidents to severe weather outbreaks and other large-scale events. To manage situations effectively, center personnel and first responders need relevant, real-time information about what’s happening, where and when. They also need readily accessible and coordinated response plans. Today, much of this information exists in silos making it difficult to connect the dots. Operating procedures are often paper-based and real-time information sharing is challenging.

In this session, two experts with five decades of collective experience will show you how to use Situation Management technology to unify siloed systems into a Common Operating Picture, analyze and correlate information, and apply adaptive response plans. You’ll see actual scenarios of Situation Management at work and get practical advice to improve situational awareness, efficiency, interoperability and incident response.

Learning Points:

  1. Identify the key capabilities of an effective Situation Management solution and explain how they could apply these capabilities to enhance emergency preparedness, situational awareness and incident response in their own environments.
  2. List the different types of siloed systems and information sources that can be integrated, synthesized and analyzed through Situation Management, and identify those that are relevant to their own environments
  3. Explain how Situation Management can be used to implement adaptive joint response plans, enhance real-time collaboration, ensure compliance with operating procedures and consistent effective response; and identify applications and benefits for their own agencies.
